Jo & Lance | Yuma Couples Session

I met Jo when I first moved here to Yuma. She has been one of my biggest fans, cheering me on every step of the way. Jo is a Marine and, as such, only recently returned from deployment. So when she contacted me, she was super excited to schedule a fall mini-session, because her boyfriend was visiting from out of town. Couples’ sessions are a favorite of mine, so I was just as excited as she was. Little did we know this session would be so much more then either of us had planned.

The session itself was simple & fun. Kayla’s got a great personality & is very creative in the images she captures. There was no awkwardness throughout the session & she knew exactly what to capture. She’s a professional & we appreciated the session being so fun.

I was on location when Jo and Lance pulled up. Lance hopped out of the car quickly, walked my way… FLASHED A RING… and then slid it back in his pocket. You can imagine both my shock and excitement. As a photographer, I LOVE being a part of these moments. These seemingly small, major, once-in-a-lifetime, world-altering moments… and here I am getting to capture it all. We took a short walk to the location and started shooting. Everything was going perfectly and then I asked him to spin her. Mid spin he pulled out the ring and this happened….

I’m forever grateful she captured the proposal.
I love that she captured exactly how Lance & I feel about each other.

She said yes! From that moment on Jo just could not stop smiling. A proposal is certainly one way to get a session full of genuine smiles, laughter and joy. I am so incredibly happy for this couple and feel beyond blessed that I was there to capture it. If you have a special moment you’d like me to document for your family lets talk!

xoxo- Kayla
